What's the difference between avalanche and snowball?
Both put your extra payment toward one debt at a time while you make minimums on the rest. Avalanche targets the debt with the highest interest rate first — it costs the least in interest overall. Snowball targets the smallest balance first — you clear whole debts sooner, which many people find more motivating. You can switch strategies anytime and Payfin re-projects your debt-free date.
How do I log a payment?
Open a debt and tap to log a payment. Your total balance drops, the payoff ring updates, and your projected debt-free date moves closer. Payfin keeps your full payment history on the device.
How do reminders work?
Payfin schedules local notifications before a debt's due date so you don't miss a payment. They're scheduled on your device — make sure notifications are enabled for Payfin in iOS Settings.
How accurate is the debt-free date?
It's a projection based on the balances, interest rates, minimums, and extra payment you enter, assuming you keep paying at that pace. It's a planning estimate, not a guarantee — real lender statements can differ, and changing any number re-projects the date.
Is my data backed up?
Payfin stores everything on your device only — there are no accounts and no cloud. Your data is included in your normal encrypted iPhone backup (iCloud or Finder). If you delete the app without a backup, the data is gone, since it was never stored anywhere else.
How do I restore my subscription?
If you've subscribed before — for example after reinstalling or on a new device — open the paywall and tap Restore. Your Pro access will be restored from your Apple ID.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not in the app. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select Payfin, and choose to change or cancel. You can also go to the App Store, tap your profile photo, then Subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the current period ends.
How is my privacy protected?
Payfin never asks for a bank login and has no analytics or trackers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
